In this diary entry it describes the young girl’s misfortune on how she was forced into tagging for a particular gang in her area. The young girl lives in the ghetto in long beach and her neighbourhood is surrounded by gangsters and drug dealers. It also emphasises the racial tension in her neighbourhood because the gangs rule the streets. These gangsters cannot be ignored otherwise you could be shot or killed.
Tagging is something that many people think is bad and it should not be allowed. But I strongly disagree and think of it this way if these particular teens were not tagging then what would they get up to. In this particular diary entry she says that her only option was to tag otherwise she would have to become a drug dealer. Is this what we as a society want our children to become drug dealers, that’s all the cops need are more people to put into jail, other gang members have more targets and the cemetery will need more land. Would you want your children home for dinner or in a grave?
Yes tagging looks absolutely dreadful when driving past a wall, but you could ask the taggers to become creative and make some wall art whilst tagging. In South Africa when I was in the car and had to go through Soweto and the ghettos, we would go through a high wall with tags all over it and they turned all of these tags into wall art. It looks a lot better that just a spray of black paint. I personally think that it will keep them occupied and stop most of the violence within the community.
Some children like tagging it give them a thrill, so let them do it. Let them do what the love and it will become better and some people may make it a career.

Diary Entry 2 Racial Segregation
Diary entry 2 explains that this young man is the only white person in his English class and he is not comfortable with it. He wants to be somewhere else every English lesson and thinking that the school made a mistake and out him in wrong English class.
This diary entry conveys the racial segregation within the school and this is bad. Having this racial separation causes tension between the two groups and this is how the gang wars start because they all have grudges against each other. I personally think that racism is not very good because of the effects it has on the family and the victim of racism. If people are getting bullied about having a different belief or having a different coloured skin they could go into depression cause it is a form of bulling or they could hold grudges and start a mass murder on the perpetrator. The other big component that supports my argument is that god made us equal.
Coming from a country that has gone through discrimination of the maximum where people were not allowed to associate with other races. Living in fear is not fun, knowing that out on the street there are people that want to hurt you or your family because of the colour of your skin or what you believe in is scary and unimaginable. Having a security system in your house because the crime rate and the gang war, this will live with me forever and never leave me.
In the diary entry it says “nobody mixes” this needs to change because we cannot have our people having discomfort in the world due to the colour of your skin and if you believe in God or not. If this carries on we are soon going to be in world war three and with the advancement in technology and nuclear power the world will become a small dot with no life on it, within the universe.
